- On September 11, disaster struck the US when Islamic terrorists hijacked four U.S. planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon.

- On October 7, in response, the United States military and some of the UK, commenced the first attack on the Taliban and Al-Queda in Afganistan.

2002 - Feb. 8 - due to tight security, President Bush opened up the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, and they continued without major incident until it's closing on the 24.


2003 -
March 10th - the Iraqi War begins.
